I strive to understand how to best support students academically. I have been involved in several youth-oriented and education-focused work, research, and volunteer opportunities since starting my career in education. I specialize in teaching all sections of the ACT, PSAT, SAT, and ISEE as well as supporting students academically in math and writing.

I graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Women’s, Gender, & Sexuality Studies (minoring in Family Studies and Social Work) from Miami University. During my time at Miami, I tutored with a local youth organization. Following undergrad, I was an AmeriCorps member for two years with two different nonprofit organizations. I served as a tutor in Chicago Public Schools and Evanston Township High School during my AmeriCorps service. As a result of these experiences, I decided to pursue tutoring full-time.

For over four years, I tutored with a prominent tutoring agency in Chicago. There, I gained thousands of hours of ACT and SAT tutoring experience and worked with over 150 students one-on-one. I have more than doubled that number in my current tutoring practice, serving approximately 75 students each year. I have worked with a wide range of students and have experience with multiple different types of learners, including students with testing accommodations, ADHD, processing disorders, and dyslexia. I see exceptional growth with my students. My hardest working students have double-digit growth on the ACT (currently an average increase of 7 points overall and 8 points for current 2024-2025 juniors) and triple-digit growth on the SAT.

My tutoring approach has evolved over the years to become very adaptable. Because I have worked with many different types of learners, I am able to meet my students where they are in their learning process and help build them up to where they need to be. I start off a tutoring program by spending time getting to know the student--their interests, favorite school subjects, college goals, and goals with college readiness tests. I like to construct an environment that is comfortable and open, where students are not afraid to ask questions. I focus on keeping students engaged; I want them to get the most out of their time with me. I do this by asking thoughtful questions and doing checks for understanding. My end goal is to tutor my way out of a job because I want my students to take what they learn from me and become strong independent learners.

Currently, I tutor approximately 30 students on a weekly basis. I also serve as a test preparation consultant for College Possible Chicago, a nonprofit organization focused on providing test preparation and college planning to low-income students across the city of Chicago. In my free time, I enjoy entertaining my dog Royce, exploring new restaurants, and traveling.
