In-Person & Online Tutoring

Tutoring sessions are held at Derek’s office and online via Zoom. In-home tutoring sessions are not an option at this time. Most tutoring sessions last 60 minutes.

Test Preparation Tutoring

Derek prepares students for all sections of the ACT, SAT, PSAT, and ISEE. Derek recommends that students begin a tutoring program with him by taking a proctored practice test at his office to determine where students are in their test-taking abilities. Then, Derek works to build students up until they’ve reached their testing goals.

Academic Tutoring

Derek Mahan Tutoring offers academic tutoring primarily for high school and college level math: Algebra, Geometry, Pre-Calculus, Calculus. Physics tutoring is also available.

Proctored Practice Testing

Practice testing is an essential part of measuring student growth and informing the teaching process as Derek helps students prepare for standardized tests. Additionally, practicing under conditions similar to the official test is a great way to condition students for success. Practice tests are proctored at Derek’s office using the same guidelines used for official test administrations.

Personalized Instructional Videos

As a supplement or replacement to private tutoring sessions, Derek creates personalized instructional videos tailored to each students needs.
